Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced plans to transform Ciudad Modelo into the Capital of Technology and Sustainability. The goal is to manage eight industrial parks and attract local and national investments, especially to enhance the technological sovereignty of the state and consolidate its position as the main regional supplier of sustainable products and human capital.
During a press conference, Armenta detailed a legal reform initiative to make San José Chiapa the Capital of Technology and Sustainability in Southern Southeast Mexico. The plan aims to attract public and private investment, promoting collaboration between the business and government sectors in the region.
In his presentation, the governor explained that the proposal includes the transformation of the Decentralized Public Organization (OPD) into a new entity directly dependent on the state Executive. This is done to expedite processes and avoid bureaucratic hurdles that may obstruct the development of planned projects.
José Antonio Silva Hernández has been appointed to lead this new organization and direct the transformation. Armenta emphasized the interest in equalizing opportunities for local investors, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MiPyMEs) from Puebla, with foreign investors.
Armenta highlighted the desire for the eight industrial parks and the new Capital of Technology and Sustainability to become strategic poles of attraction for both local and national investment. The governor pointed out the importance of strengthening technological sovereignty and turning Puebla into a benchmark in the provision of sustainable goods and services in Southern Southeast Mexico, leveraging the infrastructure of the Interoceanic Train.
